A trio Peter, Paul & Mary (typically PP&M) is one of the most successful folk-singing groups of the 1960s. A trio is Peter Yarrow, Noel "Paul" Stookey, and Mary Travers.

History
A class action was created by manager Albert Grossman, who sought to produce the folk "supergroup" by bringing together "a tall blonde (Travers), a funny guy (Stookey), and a good looking guy (Yarrow)". He launched a class action inside 1961, booking them into a Bitter End, a coffee home around New York City's Greenwich Village that was a preferred place to hear folk creative person. A class action recorded their number one album, Peter, Paul & Mary, a as punishment month. It involved "Five Hundred Miles", "Lemon Tree", "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", & a hit Pete Seeger tune "If I Had a Hammer". A album was utilized in Billboard Magazine Top x list for ten months & in the Top A single Hundred for concluded tierce years.

By 1963, they got recorded trey albums, discharged a today-famous song "Puff the Magic Dragon," which Yarrow originally wrote around 1958, and performed "If I Had a Hammer" at a 1963 March on Washington, best remembered for Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. For several years when, a class action was at a forefront of the civil rights movement and other drives promoting social justice. A late hit "Leaving on a Jet Plane" was actually written by the so unknown John Denver.

A trio broke higher around 1970 to pursue separate solo careers, but observed little of the profits it did en bloc, although Stookey's "The Wedding Song (There Is Love)" (written for Achillea millefolium's marriage to Marybeth McCarthy, a niece of senator Eugene McCarthy) was the hit & has turn into a wedding standard since its 1971 release.

Within 1978, they reunited for the concert to protest nuclear energy, & stand recorded albums together and toured since. It presently play around Forty shows a year.

A class action was inducted into a Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.

Around 2005, Travers was diagnosed with leukemia, leading to the cancellation of the remaining tour dates for that season. She received the bone marrow transplant & is recovering with success.
